"The greatest abyss between where you stand and where you wish to be is the story you tell yourself of why you cannot achieve it."
As one may infer by its very name, YOUMUN is built upon the foundation of making you believe that you are capable of bringing about positive change to the world. By encouraging dialogue and negotiation, YOUMUN seeks to amplify high schoolers' knowledge of international affairs and familiarize them with the nature of diplomacy, thus contributing to students' positive character development and giving rise to more discerning and empathetic leaders of tomorrow. Thus, YOUMUN strives to promote an event that features a more equalitarian approach to education worldwide, waiving conference fees for those in need and attempting to demonstrate that one's aspirations may come to a realization, despite all hardships one may face; the greatest abyss between where you stand and where you wish to be is the story you tell yourself of why you cannot achieve it.
On the reverse, being a principled leader is not about you, and actually about ensuring the wellbeing of the people you serve by occupying such position and how your actions impact the lives of the community which surrounds you. Guided by the fact that in current times, it is common to find leaders who act on their own interests instead of seeking multilateral cooperation, YOUMUN's strive is also focused on teaching youth about the leadership dexterity and ethics, hence guiding them on how to be receptive of the opinions of others whilst remaining aligned to your own moral compass. |
