YOUMUN is a non-profit organization! All profits collected from registration fees will be donated to institutions that echo the conference's aspiration to a more egalitarian future!
As such, YOUMUN is committed to supporting causes that aim to help minorities and underprivileged groups by donating all the money collected from registration fees to two non-profit institutions. As the conference acts on an international scale, we have decided to aid both a national and international organization.
Our profits made through the delegate registration fee as well as merchandise sales will be evenly distributed to both of the institutions below. In case you wish to make additional donations to either of these organizations, please feel free to access the links listed below.
International NGO : Doctors without Borders
Founded in 1971 in Paris, France, Médecins Sans Frontières (commonly known as Doctors Without Borders) is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to provide "medical humanitarian assistance to victims of conflict, natural disasters, epidemics or healthcare exclusion". Currently, the institution operates in over 72 countries all over the world and has received several recognition awards, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize. National NGO : Fundação Vaga Lume
This association began in 2001, when three friends visited the Amazonian region in Brazil and, fascinated by its beauty and yet appalled by the precary education provided to the children, devised a project which fosters the improvement of educational resources in the region. The project was thus named "Vaga Lume", (Portuguese for firefly), not only because of the local popularity of the insect, whose body becomes luminous during nighttime, yet also as a metaphor for the enlightening power a book has over one's mind. Currently, the institution has helped over 100 thousand pupils, donating almost 130 thousand books and enriching the region with libraries. For more information, please access vagalume.org.br/en/
