Letter from the Secretary-General

​Dear all, 

Welcome to the second edition of the Youth Online Universal Model United Nations, a full-scale international conference crafted to encourage you to follow your dreams. 

Having founded YOUMUN in 2021, I endeavoured to craft a conference where pupils from all over the globe are united by a common goal: to engage in diplomatic negotiation and actively partake in an enlightening educational experience. Discovering an innate passion for public speaking and global politics at a very young age, I soon understood how fortunate I was to have academic opportunities that place me at a comparative advantage for accomplishing my aspirations. With that in mind, I now serve as Secretary-General for YOUMUN –– a need-blind conference that strives to provide a more egalitarian educational opportunity for all. 

Moreover, all profit from YOUMUN's registration fees is directed to two charitable organisations, these being Ação Jovens Indígenas – a national NGO that strives to improve literacy for children living in remote areas of the Amazon Rainforest – and Doctors Without Borders, which works to provide humanitarian assistance in conflict zones and regions affected by endemic diseases. 

By offering a weekend of prolific discussion, lectures by specialists, workshops and much more, YOUMUN seeks to support youth protagonism, contributing to students' positive character development and giving rise to empathetic and discerning leaders of tomorrow.As claimed by the conference's theme, the greatest abyss between where you stand and where you wish to be is the story you tell yourself of why you cannot achieve it. Through YOUMUN, I hope to convince you that, with resilience and determination, you are indeed capable of accomplishing your goals, no matter how challenging they may seem. 

In all, if you are currently a high school student who is passionate about politics and international relations, or would simply like to try out Model UN, I am beyond honoured to invite you to join YOUMUN and create cherished memories with individuals from all over the world.
